Water Charity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation engaged in water, sanitation, and health educations projects worldwide. Although we currently have projects in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Bolivia and Peru, our headquarters are in Crestline, and we are engaged in many projects closer to home. The drought, the homeless, and disaster action are but a few of the local issues we are helping with.

In addition to doing water and sanitation projects, we facilitate the founding of small businesses working in the fields of water and sanitation by providing business training, arranging grants and loans, and providing work to the resulting businesses.

We will provide information about worldwide water and sanitation issues, and the solutions thereto. We will highlight the safe disposal of medications so that they do not reach our water supply.

We will hand out educational and promotional literature.

We will collect prescription medications that are outdated and unneeded and provide for their safe and legal disposal.

We will possibly sell branded merchandise.

In 2004 the Mojave Desert Resource Conservation District (MDRCD) began a partnership with CALFIRE California Department of Fire and Forestry(at that time CDF)to oversee the reforestation of the San Bernardino Mountain areas devastated by bark beetle decimation and the wildfires of 2003. Out of this partnership came the creation of Mountain Communities Wildfire ReLeaf. This project grew as partners were added and the need became more noticeable. Partners involved from day one include, NRCS, Arrowhead Lake Association, Mountain Rim Fire Safe Council, Arrowhead Communities Fire Safe Council, Big Bear Valley FSC, the local Chambers of Commerce, Inland Empire RCD, American Forest, California ReLeaf, MAST, Lake Arrowhead CSD, Southern California Edison, Sempra Energy, Hearts & Lives, and Mojave Desert-Mountain RC and D.

Since 2004, ReLeaf Volunteers, partnering with the Mojave Desert Resource Conservation District and CAL FIRE, California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection, have planted nearly 300,000 native seedlings across several hundred acres of land in the San Bernardino Mountains and additional areas located in San Diego and Riverside counties. Additionally, many local nurseries participate by offering native seedlings and small trees for their customers.

81Apr 2 2009 - 2:15pmCharis65.223.10.178LarsonCharisclarson@lakearrowheadcsd.com909-336-7115Lake Arrowhead Community Services DistrictCommunity Information Coordinatorwww.lakearrowheadcsd.comPublicInfo@lakearrowheadcsd.com

Lake Arrowhead Community Services District (LACSD) is a Special District charged with providing water and wastewater service to the communities of Lake Arrowhead, Aqua Fria, Blue Jay, Cedar Glen, Rim Forest, Sky Forest and Twin Peaks. Our mission is "To Provide Exceptional Water and Wastewater Services as We Protect Our Water Resources and Preserve Our Environment."

LACSD has become a leader in water use efficiency. Prior to 2005 all water supply for the Lake Arrowhead Woods customers was drawn from Lake Arrowhead. That right was challenged and resulted in a reduction mandated by the State Water Control Resources Board of approximately 50% of historical supply.LACSD has had to develop mandatory WUE programs that are now being duplicated accross Southern California. The District has implemented technologies to track water use and detect leaks and continues to develop recycled water for irrigation while attempting to locate other water supply options. All of these options are costly. The single most important thing we can do to insure that our water supply is sustainable is to change the culture in Lake Arrowhead to one of responsible outdoor use and efficient indoor water use. The result of our education/outreach, technology and enforcement of water use efficiency mandates has been an overall reduction of 50% of water use from peak in 2002 to 2008 total use.

LACSD will provide educational materials on water quality, use efficiency and conservation.

Last year, NHS hosted an Earth Night seminar, focusing on climate change education.

We have four activities at our booth: The first focuses on individual action, committing vistors to one behavioral change, in exchange for a bracelet that will help them remember. We'll also have carbon calculators set up, a list of "Green Tips" for visitors to take home with them, reusable water bottles for sale, and a couple activities for young children. In order to have all these events, we'd like to ask if we could have two booth spaces. Please let me know if that's not possible, and we'll adjust!

Landscape Architecture consultants providing conceptual design, construction drawings and site observation for custom residential estates, commercial properties, master planned communities, parks, nature preserves and resorts.

We actively engage sustainable design strategies and resource conservation into all of of our projects, including the use of durable materials, permeable paving, water conserving irrigation and planting design, use of native plants, habitat creation, solar orientation, soil building and strategies for minimizing the use of fertilizers and pesticides.

Display conceptual designs and photo exhibits highlighting our completed projects, and provide complimentary consultation to homeowners interested in creating outdoor living spaces.

We will have available hand outs on "sustainable landscape design" and low water use plant lists appropriate for the Mountain communities.
